Coats 1500 Balancer Behind Spoke Mode
1500 Balancer Behind Spoke Mode
Custom wheels are an investment, and it is essential to maintain their visual appeal while ensuring proper balance. The Coats 1500 Balancer simplifies this process by enabling you to hide adhesive wheel weights neatly behind the spokes. Thus, it offers an aesthetically pleasing solution without compromising performance.
Understanding Behind Spoke Balancing
Behind spoke balancing involves discreetly placing adhesive weights behind wheel spokes, hiding them entirely from view. This method is particularly favored by customers who want their custom wheels to look clean and weight-free.
Balancing Wheels Using Coats 1500 Balancer
To balance wheels using behind spoke mode effectively, begin by mounting the wheel and tire securely on the Coats 1500 Balancer. It’s important to use the correct collet or pin plate to ensure accuracy.
Next, choose the type and location of weights. Clip-on weights are usually placed on the inboard plane, while adhesive weights are ideal for the outboard plane or T2 location. These adhesive weights will be concealed behind the wheel spokes.
After deciding the weight placement, enter the wheel dimensions accurately. Extend the balancer’s A and D arm to touch the edge of the wheel until the machine signals with a beep. Position the laser precisely at the intended adhesive weight placement (T2 location) and align it correctly. Once the laser points match, retract the arm.
Now perform the measuring spin by closing the balancer hood. Once the spin is complete, the required weight correction amounts will be displayed clearly on the balancer.
Proceed to apply the recommended clip-on weights at the inboard location first. Then, switch to the T2 location to hide the adhesive weights behind the spokes. To activate the behind spoke mode, press the “Behind the Spoke” button. Rotate the wheel slowly towards you until the laser aligns with the first spoke and mark this as “Spoke One.” Rotate the wheel in the opposite direction to align the laser with the second spoke, marking this position as “Spoke Two.”
The balancer now clearly indicates two hidden locations for the adhesive weights. Rotate between these two positions and carefully attach the adhesive weights as specified. Finish by performing a final check spin to verify the balance. If the wheel is perfectly balanced, the balancer’s display will show zero at both the inboard and outboard locations.
