Coats ProBalance E900 Operations & Balancing Demo

Table of Contents

If you’ve spent enough time in a shop, you’re familiar with this story. A customer returns after a tire installation. They ask, “Why is it shaking at 55 mph?” Your tech balanced it. It reads OK. But the vibration is still there.

Now you’re burning time, you pull it back in. Re-spin. Recheck weights. Maybe swap wheels. Maybe a road test. Meanwhile, the next job is waiting.

That’s exactly the kind of situation the Coats ProBalance™ E900 was built to prevent.

In this E900 operations demo, we walk through the full start-to-finish workflow—mounting, measuring, balancing, diagnosing runout with ProMatch, and finishing with performance balancing using ProBalance Technology™. When you follow this process, you’re not just balancing a wheel. You’re solving the vibration at its source.

Built for High-Volume Shops That Can’t Afford Rework

The E900 isn’t a basic wheel balancer. It’s a direct drive, diagnostic wheel balancer designed for high-performing tire service providers who need speed, accuracy, and durability in one machine .

It’s part of the Coats Pro Series—measurement and diagnostic systems built to boost ride quality and safety while keeping techs productive .

A few things that matter on the shop floor:

  • Direct Drive system integrated motor and spindle
  • Up to 10x faster than non-direct drive balancers
  • 10-year motor warranty
  • Diagnostic roller with ProMatch® runout measurement
  • Multi-function laser module for measurement and weight placement

This isn’t about flashy features. It’s about reducing comebacks and keeping bays turning.

Step 1: Mount It Right — Because Accuracy Starts Here

Every good balance starts with proper mounting.

On the E900, heavy or oversized assemblies are handled with the optional Auto Down Wheel Lift. Lower the carriage, roll the wheel on, raise it to align perfectly with the spindle. The lift retracts out of the way automatically.

For larger assemblies, that lift saves backs—and time.

More importantly, the E900 workflow reinforces best practice:

  • Always center from the backside using a proper collet
  • Use a snug-fitting collet—no rocking
  • Finish tightening the hub nut by hand to ensure firm clamping
  • Confirm the wheel is fully seated before spinning

If the wheel isn’t centered correctly, nothing else in the process matters. The E900 includes double-sided collets, adjustable pin plates, and premium mounting accessories to eliminate guesswork.

When you standardize on correct mounting procedures, you eliminate one of the biggest hidden causes of repeat vibration complaints.

Step 2: Automatic Dimension Capture — Faster, Fewer Errors

Manual data entry slows techs down. Worse, it introduces mistakes.

The E900’s multi-function laser module captures diameter and offset. Sonar measures width automatically. That means fewer keystrokes and fewer chances to input incorrect dimensions .

If you’re working with an unusual flange or deep-dish wheel, you can override and enter D, W, or A manually. But most of the time, the system handles it.

For multi-outlet owners and dealership service managers trying to standardize processes across locations, this matters. Less variation between techs. Less reliance on “the one guy who knows how to run it.”

Consistent input leads to consistent output.

Step 3: Precise Weight Placement — Zero Guesswork

Once dimensions are captured, lower the hood and spin.

The E900 displays exact corrective weights for inboard and outboard planes and automatically positions the assembly for each correction.

Key features that speed up the process:

  • Stop, Lock, Index automatically positions the wheel where weight is needed
  • 12:00 laser line for clip-on weight reference
  • Laser dot guidance for tape weights
  • LED barrel lighting for better visibility inside the wheel
  • Behind-the-Spoke mode to hide tape weights on alloy wheels

Behind-the-spoke mode is especially useful in dealership environments or performance shops where appearance matters. You can split a tape weight between spokes and keep the wheel looking clean—without compromising balance.

Clean the surface. Place the weight exactly where indicated. Press firmly. Re-spin.

A proper respin should read zero on both planes. If it doesn’t, re-index and verify placement.

Clean, accurate placement reduces rework and improves first-time accuracy.

Step 4: Diagnose Runout with ProMatch — Fix What Balancing Alone Can’t

Here’s where the E900 separates itself from a conventional balancer.

Not every vibration is caused by simple imbalance.

  • Radial runout = up-and-down “out-of-round” variation
  • Lateral runout = side-to-side wobble

Either condition can create a vibration that balancing alone won’t fix.

The E900 uses a diagnostic roller and ProMatch® Technology to measure radial runout and identify high and low spots in the tire and rim .

Here’s the workflow:

  1. Engage the diagnostic roller.
  1. Run the measurement cycle.
  1. The system flags assemblies outside tolerance.
  1. Mark the tire’s high spot and the rim’s low spot.
  1. Move to the tire changer and align the marks.
  1. Reinflate and remount.
  1. Re-run the diagnostic roller to confirm reduced runout.
  1. Perform final balance.

This match-mounting process minimizes total runout before weights are even considered.

For independent shop owners, this is the difference between saying “we balanced it twice” and confidently explaining to a customer, “We identified a runout condition and corrected it.”

For multi-location operators, it’s a repeatable process that reduces variability between stores.

Step 5: Performance Balancing with ProBalance Technology™

Even after a dynamic balance reads zero, residual static forces can remain.

That’s where ProBalance Technology™ comes in.

ProBalance Technology is a balancing algorithm designed to eliminate residual unbalance that can still generate nuisance vibration .

When the E900 flags residual static forces:

  • Follow the prompt.
  • The balancer positions the assembly.
  • Apply the small corrective weight exactly where indicated.

This final correction step is what we call performance balancing—balancing to zero.

It’s not just about “close enough.” It’s about preventing comebacks, improving ride quality, and protecting your shop’s reputation.

As the Pro Series value statement puts it: OK is not good enough when it comes to tires .

Designed for Durability, Serviceability, and Uptime

Speed and diagnostics are important. But so is uptime.

The E900 features:

  • 3-year parts warranty
  • 6 months labor
  • 10-year direct drive motor warranty

It’s built for absolute precision and long-term durability in high-volume shops .

And it’s backed by Coats Connect Service—the only service network in the industry staffed coast to coast by factory-trained Coats technicians .

For procurement leaders and regional operators, that means fewer vendor calls and faster resolution when service is needed.

One call. Full shop.

The Complete E900 Workflow: Solve It in One Visit

When you follow the full E900 process:

  1. Accurate mounting with proper centering
  1. Automatic dimension capture
  1. Precise laser-guided weight placement
  1. Runout correction with ProMatch
  1. Final performance balance with ProBalance Technology

You’re not just spinning a wheel and hanging weights.

You’re diagnosing. Correcting. Verifying.

And most importantly, you’re solving tough vibrations in a single visit.

For shops that care about ride quality, technician efficiency, and protecting margins, the Coats ProBalance™ E900 isn’t just another wheel balancer. It’s a modern workhorse designed to keep work flowing.

If you’re ready to reduce rework, standardize performance across bays—or across multiple locations—it’s worth taking a closer look at the E900 and reach out to your local Coats sales or service representative

Because when it comes to wheel balance, zero means zero.
